This coconut lime sauce is so good. Although I made this dish with opah [a large, white-fleshed fish], the sauce could go over just about any protein – or veggie – and be delicious. We’ll be trying chicken next.

Coconut Lime Fish
—
[Ingredients]
- Half a small onion
- 3 cloves of garlic – minced
- 1 Tbsp coconut/olive oil
- 1 Tbsp patis (fish sauce) – alternately you could use soy sauce
- 1 can coconut milk –either lite or regular works fine
- 3-4 pieces of fish [I used opah, but you could use tilapia]
- juice and zest of two limes [about 3-4 Tbsp] – I used Tahitian limes, which is why they look yellow

Heat oil in a large pan over medium low heat.
Add in garlic and onion and stir often until the onion is translucent. ![]()
Stir in patis and allow for the flavors to meld for about a minute.
Then pour in your coconut milk and stir well.
Place the fish into the pan, cover, and allow to simmer on medium low for 5-15 minutes (depending on the type and size of your fish), or until your fish has cooked all the way through.
Once the fish is done, turn off the heat and add in the lime juice and zest.
Enjoy! Makes about 4 servings.
